About the role

Cementers ltd has an exciting opportunity for a Company Accountant to join our finance team to work in Nairobi, Kenya.

What you’ll be doing

As a Company Accountant, you will:

  • Production of monthly management accounts and commentary thereon (including variance analysis) to entity deadlines;
  • Preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecast updates;
  • Producing cash flow forecasts;
  • Preparation of draft statutory accounts and acting as first point of contact with auditors;
  • Making payments to subcontractors and lenders to contractual timescales;
  • Liaison with lenders in respect of loan agreement financial administration;
  • Review of VAT and other returns;
  • In conjunction with the Finance Manager, maintenance of the Finance Policies and Procedures Manuals;
  • Liaison with Finance Manager to determine technical accounting calculations as required.
  • Ownership of all General Ledger accounts and ensuring that invoices, payments, receipts and month-end journals are processed accurately and with required authorizations;
  • Ensuring that financial transactions are carried out in accordance with its contracts and accounting policies and standards and that reliable accounting records are maintained;
  • Production of Balance Sheet account reconciliations;
  • Preparation of Corporation Tax quarterly payment calculations and provision of information to tax advisers relating to annual computations and returns;
  • Any other additional duties such as the Head of Concession Finance, Finance Manager or Concession management team may reasonably require.

Who we’re looking for

Personal Qualities & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum 7 years professional experience;
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent standard;
  • Proficient with SAGE
  • Qualified accountant;
  • IT literate especially with Microsoft Excel & Word;
  • Able to work with technical accounting concepts;
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with colleagues at a range of levels;
  • Able to act and work on own initiative and prepared to ask for guidance;
  • Quick to assimilate and work effectively with new information.
  • Able to perform a number of different tasks and to prioritise own workload to ensure deadlines are met, whilst producing accurate work;

Desirable:

  • Start up company experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft power bi software.
  • Familiarity with SAP software.
