Aluminium Department Manager – Kenya
Department: Aluminium & Partition Works
Reports To: Operations Director / General Manager
Job Overview:
The Aluminium Department Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aluminium and partition-related works within the company. This includes but is not limited to the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of aluminium windows, glazing, façades, glass partitions, and bathroom partitions. The manager will lead a team of skilled professionals, ensuring high-quality workmanship, adherence to project deadlines, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Management & Execution
Oversee the planning, design, fabrication, and installation of aluminium and glass partition systems.
Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and clients to ensure smooth execution of aluminium-related projects.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion within budget and quality specifications.
Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with project specifications.
2. Technical & Operational Management
Ensure precise fabrication and installation of aluminium windows, glazing, façades, and partitions.
Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for aluminium-related work.
Supervise the procurement of aluminium profiles, glass, hardware, and other related materials.
Implement and maintain best practices in aluminium and glazing works to enhance efficiency and quality.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and installation techniques.
3. Team Leadership & Workforce Management
Lead and manage a team of technicians, installers, and fabricators.
Provide training and mentorship to staff to enhance their technical skills and safety awareness.
Schedule work assignments and monitor staff performance to ensure efficiency and productivity.
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
4. Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure all aluminium and partition work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Implement quality control measures to prevent defects and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Conduct regular safety audits and provide recommendations for improvements.
Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all staff on-site.
5. Client & Stakeholder Relations
Engage with clients to understand project requirements and provide professional advice on aluminium and glazing solutions.
Prepare and present cost estimates, technical proposals, and work schedules to clients.
Address and resolve client concerns, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
6. Budget & Resource Management
Prepare and manage the department’s budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness in material procurement and labor allocation.
Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising on quality.
Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and pricing.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in aluminium fabrication and installation, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Strong technical knowledge of aluminium systems, glazing, and partition installations.
Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams effectively.
Knowledge of local and international construction safety regulations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Skills & Competencies:
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software is an advantage.
Strong understanding of aluminium profiles, accessories, and installation methodologies.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
High attention to detail and quality.
Negotiation and vendor management skills.
